This is our first bit of news. We have two sizes of banners for you to choose from now, a 125 pixel square in addition to our 468 by 60 pixel banner. Also, this post comes to you directly from our new Livejournal via rss, which you can subscribe to for updates on our site and banner exchange news!

Two (I hope constructive) criticisms of the rubifruit website:
1) There really, really, really needs to a link where I can see, before signing up, what the banners look like! It's really hard for me to agree to put something on my site if I can't see what it looks like first.
(Unless it's there right under my nose and I'm just missing it.)
2) Under "rules," where it says "You are automatically eligible for participation if you fit the following guidelines," maybe it should say "You are automatically eligible for participation if you fit at least one of the following guidelines." Right now it reads to me as if you have to fit all three of the guidelines in order to be eligible, but I don't think that's actually the case.
1) Most of the banners aren't showing. I've only seen the Penny and Aggie, Yu + Me = Dream and default Rubifruit ads display. I've not seen a single one of the others.
2) Many of the 'participating' sites linked to on the main page aren't actually participating. They've uploaded their banners to the exchange but do not have the rubifruit exchange posted on their site.
Rubifruit is really going to be a great resource when it's fully up and running. Thanks for all your hard work!
Because in this system you don't get impressions unless someone clicks your banner, it's not stupid to, say, click your banner once a day and check out whatever is on the other end. This does in fact help you meet other webcomics and their creators, so I don't think of it as cheating. Doing it over and over again would be.
It will really be something once more people join.
